    1.WYRA PROJECT :      It has a weir of 1,320 ft long constructed across the WYRA Riiver near WYRA (V) of WYRA(M). It is a completed preplan scheme constructed at a cost of Rs. 35.00 lakhs having an ultimate Irrigation Potential of 17,396 acres .100% of the ayacut has been developed.

    2. PALAIR PROJECT :      It is a medium irrigation project constructed across the Palair river, a tributary of the river Krishna, situated about 30 km South-West of Khammam town. It is a preplan prject complered during 1928 ata a cost of Rs. 20.70 lakhs to irrigate an ayacut of 19,694 acres. Total ayacut has been developed. The project was handed over to Nagarjuna sagar Project authorities to use as a balancing reservoir in N.S. Left Canal System.

    3.LANKASAGAR PROJECT :      It is a storage reservoir constructed across the river Kottaleru in the Krishna Basin near Adivimallala village of Penubally mandal . It is a completed pre-plan project constructed at a cost of Rs. 101.00 lakhs to irrigate an ayacut of 7,353 acres out of it an IP of 6,800 acres has been created.

    4.KINNERASANI PROJECT :      It is a storage reservoir constructed across the Kinnerasani River in the Godavari Basin near Yanamboil (V) of Paloncha (M) completed at a cost of Rs. 558.00 lakhs for power generation. The project was transferred to A.P.S.E.B. in 4/98.

    5.MUKHAMAMIDI PROJECT :      It is a medium irrigation project across the Pamuleru stream, a tributary of the river Godavari, near Mukkamamidi (V) of Mulukalapalli (M) , completed in 1981, at a cost of Rs. 113.93 Lakhs , to irrigate an ayacut of 3,262 acres. Full ayacut has been developed.

    6.PEDDAVAGU PROJECT :      This is a storage reservoir scheme across Peddavagu, near Gummadipalli (V) , Aswaraopet(M), completed in 1987 at a cost of Rs.810 lakhs to irrigate an ayacut of 16,005 acres out of which 6,501 acres has been developed.

    7.L.T.BAYYARAM :      This is a large tank constructed long ago across a local stream leading to the Munair river. This was recently converted into a medium irrigation project vide G.O.Ms No.50 Dt. 10.5.97. The ayacut is 6005 acres.

    8.TALIPERU PROJECT :      It is a medium irrigation project across the Taliperu river, a major tributary of the river Godavari, near Peddamidisileru(V), Charla(M)The latest estimated cost is Rs. 52.82 crores. The ultimate IP is 24,710 acres and it has been achieved in full.

    C. Minor Irrigation :

    D.MINOR IRRIGATION L.I.SCHEMES UNDER A.P.S.I.D.C. KHAMMAM.

There are 323 No.of L.I. Schemes under A.P.S.I.D.C. in the District with a contemplated I.P. of 55100 Acres.

Under minimum Rehabilitation 232 No.of works at an estimated cost of Rs. 44.254 Crores is taken up to stabilize 55100 Acres of ayacut and an amount of Rs. 44.254 Crores is spent as on 12/03 it is programmed to complete the work by June.04

    II. ONGOING PROJECTS

    A.MAJOR IRRIGATION SCHEMES:

    1.NAGARJUNASAGAR PROJECT :     This is a multipurpose project across the river Krishna. The project was commenced in the year 1955 and the dam was completed in the year 1969. The work on canals was taken up simultaneously with the construction of dam and water was released for irrigation in August 1967. The erection of crest gates for dam was completed during the year 1974 enabling full storage of water in the reservoir.

    The dam is located near Nandikonda (V) of Peddavooru (M) of Miryalaguda (Tq) in Nalgonda (D) and is 185 kms from Vijayawada and 150 kms from Hyderabad.

    The Project envisages provision of irrigation facilities to and area of about 8.95 lakh hectares in Nalgomda, Khammam, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts, and also generation of power to an extent of 960 M.W. the ayacut proposed under the right canal is 11,727 lakh acres. The ayacut under the left canal command in Nalgonda, Khammam and Krishna districts is 10,353 lakh acres.

    The Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal in its award has allotted 800 TMC of Krishna water to Andhra Pradesh out of the 75% dependable yield of 2060 TMC, out of which 281.0 TMC is the proposed utilization under Nagarjuna sagar Project.

    The latest estimated cost is Rs. 1018.80 Crores. 100 % of the IP in the district has been created.

    2 . SRSP STAGE II :     This Project is an extension of Kakatiya Canal from Km 284 to 347 and Saraswathi Canal from Km 77 to 144 with modernization of Kadam canal from Km 0.00 to Km 77.00 to benefit total ayacut of 5,87,000 acres. Under Kakatiya Canal an ayacut of 64,023 acres in Khammam District will be benefited

    B . MEDIUM IRRIGATION PROJECT :

    1 . GUNDLAVAGU PROJECT :     It is a medium irrigation project across the Gundlavagu river, a tributary of the river Godavari, near Pragalapally (V), Wazeedu(M) at a revised estimated cost of Rs. 15.85 crores. The project consists of spillway,earth dam and canals.

    The earth dam has been completed. Works of canals are yet to be taken up. Balance works on U.C. weir was stopped as per the suggestions of the Experts Committee for remedial measures. Proposals for remedial measures at cost of Rs. 4.82 crores is under consideration.

    C . MINOR IRRIGATION :

    19Schemes are under execution to benefit an ayacut of 3358 acres in the following Mandals.

    D.MINOR IRRIGATION L.I.SCHEMES UNDER A.P.S.I.D.C. KHAMMAM :

    There are 2 Nos. of L.I.schemes under construction to create of I.P of 2104 Acres with the financial assistance of Nabard.

    NABARD ASSISTANCE.

    Under Nabard Assistance 2 (Two) L.I.Schemes are taken up at a cost of Rs. 343.94 Lakhs and an amount of Rs. 280.00 L is spent as on 12/2003 and is programmed to complete 2 No.of schemes by 31/3/04 to create an I.P. of 2104 Acres.

    III. CONTEMPLATED PROJECTS

    A.MAJOR IRRIGATION

    1.MUNNERU PROJECT :     This Project is proposed to be constructed at Mulkanur(V), Garla (M) to benefit an ayacut of 30,406 acres at an estimated cost of Rs. 104 Crores.

    2.INCHAMPALLY PROJECT:      The Project is proposed to construct across river Godavary near Mulkanoor (V)Mahadevapur Mandal Karimnagar District to irrigate total ayacut of in Karimnagar, Warangal and KhammamDistricts out of which an ayacut of 1,25,678 Acres is in Khammam District. The estimated cost of the project is 3,597 Crores.

    3.Dummugudem L.I.Scheme:     The project is proposed to construct across the river Godavari at Kotulakonda Village (Phase-I) and Pamulapally Village (Phase-II, Khammam District at an estimated cost of Rs.3450.00 Crores to create an IP of 3,39,000 Acres in the districts of Khammam (2,64,400 Acres), Krishna (27,000 Acres), West Godavari (37,600 acres). The detailed Investigation of the Project is completed / in progress and programmed to be completed by March month, 2004 year. The required clearances and Land Acquisition are expected to be completed by _______year.

    a)Dummagudem L.I.Schemes Phase-I      The Project is proposed to lift 10 TMC of water from a point about 6.5 KMs Down stream of Bhadrachalamds Town from Right side the river Godavari near Kothulakonda (V) in 7 Mandalas of Khammam District. The detailed investigation of the Project is in progress and programmed to be completed by end of June 2004. Required clearance like TAC, EIA, EMP, R&R are under preparation and is programmed to complete by……… Months of 2005 Year . The land to be equired is under process and is programmed to complete by …….. Month of 2005 year.

    b)Dummagudem L.I.Scheme Phase-II:     The Project is proposed to lift 10 TMC of water from a point about 1.5 KMs. Up stream of Dummagudem anicut on right side of river Godavari near Pamulapally (V) Aswapuram Mandal to irrigate an ayacut of 1,63,000 Acres in 13 Mandal of Khammam District, with an tentative estimated cost of 1900 Crores.

    4.Dummugudem Hydro Electric Project:     The project is proposed to construct across the river Godavari at Dummugudem Village, Khammam District at an estimated cost of Rs.3165.15 Crores. The detailed Investigation of the Project is completed / in progress and programmed to be completed by .

    B.MEDIUM IRRIGATION PROJECTS:

    1.Palemvagu Project:     The project is proposed tos construct across the river Palemvagu at Mallapuram Venkatapuram Mandal, Khammam District to irrigate an ayacut of 10,132 Acres in Venkatapuram Mandal with an estimated cost of Rs.57.34 Crores.

    2.Murreduvagu Project:     The Project is proposed to construct across river Murreduvagu near Satyhanigudem (V) Kothagudem Mandal to irrigate an ayacut of 12,306 Acres in 2(Two) Mandals of Mulkalapally and Paloncha with an estimated cost of Rs.72.458 Crores. The detailed investigation of the project is in progress. Proposals for Forest a forestation is under preparation.

    3.Mondikunta Project:     The Project is proposed to ;construct across Mondikuntavagu near Krishnapuram (V) Wazeedu Mandal Khammam District is irrigate an ayacut of 13,600 Acres in Venkatapuram and Wazeedu Mandals, with an estimated cost of Rs.115.84 Crores. The detailed investigation is completed. Obtaining of required clearances like JAC, TIA, EMP, R&R have been programmed to complete by 2005.

    4.Jalimudi Diversion Scheme:     The Project construction of Jalimudi Diversion Schemes is proposed across Wyra river near Jalimudi (V) Madhira Mandal Khammam District to irrigate an ayacut of 6000 Acres in Madhira and Wyra Mandals. The errection of gauging station for analysis of availability of water is started and completed. The submission of detailed project report is programmed to complete end of 2005.

    5.Sileru Diversion Scheme:     It is planned to take up the scheme near Polluru (v) to irrigate 13,840 acres and to generate 60 M.W. power at an estimated cost of Rs. 191.80 crores. Administrative approval is awaited and concurrence of APSEB is also required for sharing the cost of project.

    C. MINOR IRRIGATION:
258 No.of schemes are contemplated for benefiting an ayacut of 20,747 Acres.

    THANAM CHARLA FLOOD FLDOW CANAL TO FEED & M.I.TANKS IN TIRUMALAYAPALEM AND KUSUMANCHI MANDALS

     There is an existing anicut across Palair river near Thanam Charla (V) Warangal District . The proposed canal takes off fromd the left flank in Thirumalayapalems & Kusumanchi Mandals.

     Length of Flood flow canal is:

a) Warangal District 13.50 K.Ms.
b) Khammam District 16.00 K.Ms.
Total 29.50 K.Ms

     The following M.I. tanks are sproposed to be fed from the flood flow canal.

     6 Schemes are under execution to benefit an ayacut of 6485 acres in the following Mandals.

     PRESENT SANCTION STATUS OF THE SCHEME:

    a)Hydrological clearance was given by Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation for utilizing the 208 Mcft.of water from Palair River.

    b) An Estimate was prepared for Rs. 685 Lakhs with standard schedule of Rates 2002-03

    c) Chief Engineer (Minor Irrigation) has submitted the estimate to the Secretary to the Government, I& CAD vide letter No.DCE.II /OT1, 504/est/NAB/KMM/RIDF-VIII/02 Dated 25.10.2002 for projecting the scheme to NABARD(RIDF-VIII) assistance.

    The proposals are pending at Government level with Secretary (Irrigation).

    ACTION TO BE TAKEN:

    The scheme proposals are to kept before the “HIGH LEVEL MONITORING COMMITTEE” which decides the schemes that are to be posed for NABARD assistance.

    THE HIGH LEVEL MONITORING COMMITTEE COMPREISES OF:
